"The 3 stop advantage means that photographers normally shooting a 105mm lens handheld at 1/125 sec can obtain a shake free result with a shutter speed as low as 1/15 sec, for vastly extended options in low light conditions." in http://www.dpreview.com/news/0508/05082207canonlenses.asp
Can you confirm this ?
Tell Digital Grin about your experience with this lens.

This lens is a favorite of many here - it has been reviewed and extensively discussed in the Canon 24-105L Review thread. Take a peek! I do not own this lens, but have used it a number of times and the IS really is great.

Here are a couple of handheld, slow SS shots taken with my 24-105. In case the cat is somewhat still, in the other case, he's moving.

Great shot of that cat Julie! I'm a newbie, just gearing up and have a lot to learn. I have the 24-105 as well as the 17-40 L lens. For interior/portrait shots I prefer the 17-40 even though it is not IS. Should the 24-105 be sharper at closer range than the 17? I guess I like the wider angle look.
    Your thoughts??? TIA, Mike

    Andy. Good afternoon.
    How do you do ?

One thing I like in pbase and miss in SmugMug is the photos organized by country, camera and lens data.

I knew the first link already. Thank you.
The flag in Grand Central (it is there isn't it ?) is WONDERFULL. FANTASTIC.
    My cameras is a 20D and a 350 D (for the moment)
The young girl is also a very good picture. Have done any unsharpmask ?
The thing is: My wife gets tired to carry the 24-70 f/2.8 all the time when I am using the 16-35 f/2.8. So this would be her lens. Moreover she likes to shoot portraits... and this lens is good, thought a little "dark"
Have you read (of course you have) the reviews in fredmiranda ?

Just purchased this lens this weekend and love it. The IS definately makes a difference.

Please send those beautiful doggies to me!
Here is a link to some test photos I have taken [4 pages of them] I was so impressed yesterday with some semi-macros with the 24-105, I think the cropped originals, no processing are outstanding for handheld:[including some f4-1/8 sec indoors.] Pg. 3 good also.
